Math Placement
With AB 1705, your placement is tied to your declared major and determined by the multiple measures information you've provided to MiraCosta.
Courses listed on this placement page may not necessarily count towards general education for transfer. Please consult with a counselor or visit for more information on transfer and articulation.
Calculus-based Majors
Some majors at MiraCosta are calculus-based, meaning you will need to complete calculus as part of your major preparation. Your placement reflects this and sets you on the path to complete your educational goals.

Majors that do not require calculus
Non-calculus-based majors are those that do not require calculus as part of MiraCosta's major preparation. Your placement is determined by your high school math coursework and grades. Your math course choice will be dependent on your stated major, educational goal, and any major requirements.
Consult with a counselor to determine the right math class for you to get started on the path to complete your educational goals.
