Did you know that you can request money from the ASG?
Do you want to request funding to host an event, attend a conference, or purchase supplies for a service project?
The ASG has funding set aside for these types of requests. This budget line is called 鈥淚nter-Campus Contributions鈥 and is included in our budget.
How do I submit a funding request?
You can find the funding request form on Engage. Please note the link is active during the fall and spring semesters.
Who reviews my funding request?
All ASG funding requests are first reviewed by the ASG Finance Committee and then
forwarded to the Student Senate for consideration. The request should be received
in advance of the standing Finance Committee meeting to be placed on the agenda for
review.
How do I know when the Finance Committee or Student Senate meets?
All ASG meetings are listed in Engage . The Finance Committee typically meets two times per month, and the Student Senate
typically meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
How does the ASG Finance Committee decide if they are going to recommend that the
Student Senate approve the request or not?
The ASG Finance Committee uses a to guide their assessment of the request. Click here to see a copy of the rubric.
When will the Student Senate review the Finance Committee鈥檚 recommendation and vote
on my request?
After the Finance Committee reviews the request, your request will be placed on an
upcoming ASG Senate agenda, and the Finance Committee will share their recommendation
with the Senate. You are welcome to attend this meeting and speak about your request!
Then, the Student Senate will vote on whether to approve the request.
Once I submit a request for funds, what is the timeline for approval or denial of
funds?
The entire review process in the Finance Committee and the Student Senate may take
about three to four weeks, and then another two weeks to process if approved. This
timeline depends on the ASG Finance Committee, the Student Senate, and the colleges
fiscal team schedule, so best practice is to submit your request as soon as possible.
What are some examples of funding requests?
Examples of funding requests include requesting funding to cover the cost of a guest
speaker, food for a student event, supplies for a student project, or swag items for
your club or organization.
What if my funding request is denied?
If the Student Senate votes to not approve the funding request, the Finance committee
chair may contact you with options that may include feedback about how to update the
request with additional information. You may also apply for other funding sources
such as through the Inter-Club Council (ICC).
If you have any questions about this process, we鈥檙e here to help! Please email asg@miracosta.edu and allow for up to 2 business days for a reply.
