Live Performance: Yosimar Reyes
A writer, poet, and performer, Reyes is widely recognized for his compelling storytelling and exploration of the undocumented and queer experience.
This captivating play shares the story of Reyes' overprotective grandmother, who supports their family by recycling bottles, and his struggle to understand the financial disparities between his life and that of his friends. As neighborhood boys taunt him for his "feminine" behavior, young Reyes escapes into a world of books and '90s R&B. With an authentic and compelling voice, Reyes navigates the complex intersections of queer identity, immigration, poverty, and the undocumented experience, offering a narrative rich in both levity and celebration.
